Their patio is second to none. We had a great time. Thanks to the great staff and to everyone who came to watch or happened by and stayed to the end.

These pics took too long to get posted and for that I am more than eternally sorry. I am a lazy slouch who has no sense of time or space or my place in this world. However, the New Ed gig was awesome!!! That patio is the best in the city. It was the nicest day of the year so far, the sun was shining, the air was warm, the food was delicious and the beer cold and refreshing. We loved playing there and can’t wait to go back on August 8th. Hopefully I’ll be posting video’s of the gig shortly.

We recorded this for my video journal (bradisadad.com) of my time alone with my kids while my wife is away for 3 1/2 weeks in Greece.  Yah, that’s right.  3 1/2 weeks.  Greece.  3 kids.

So we’re on a heavy schedule right now for practicing.  We’re getting a healthy push towards our polished 3 hour set list.  It’s not that I’m nervous (I know Glen isn’t.  He’s like a musical demi-god), it’s just that learning a lot of songs is a lot of work.  I’ve never been excellent at memorizing so putting my inarticulate guitar skills together with a wandering mind, we’re in the mood for dancing.

Peanut butter on lightly toasted bread anyone?
Whoa.  Too many cooks in the kitchen.  That’s hard core musician slang for sliding one too many barbiturates down the old throat.  Look it up kids.  Don’t live it if you can’t like it.

Hey team,

So, we’re trying to get a little more serious with our music making, but it’s a lot of work – and mostly I’m lazy and expecting everything to be handed to me on a gigantic silver platter covered with maraschino cherries and yerba matte tea.  It’s not happening.  Although sometimes I get the tea, but I have to make it first.

Both of us in the band are full time family men with full time employment and full time lives.  Music and performance is the side project of our days but a central part of our being… mabye.  It’s definitely a central part of what I think my being is.  Anyway, I watch all these performers and singers and actors and yada yadda, and they make it their full time life.  And I don’t blame them.  It may be a life of initial (and potential) destitution of wealth, but it seems it’s the only way to truly reach the limits of your potential.

Any thoughts or ideas on how to pursue your dream when you don’t really have the freedom to ditch the part of your life that is allowing your family of 5 (or 4, whichever of us is metaphorically speaking right now) to eat, sleep and go to gymnastics?  How do you make your dreams come true AFTER you’ve moved out of your parents basement?
